Is polygraph testing legal in South Africa?+
Yes. Polygraph evidence is admissible in South African labour proceedings when the test is conducted by an accredited examiner with the subject's written consent. It cannot be used as sole evidence for dismissal, but is widely used for pre-employment screening, internal investigations and periodic integrity testing.
Who conducts the polygraph exam?+
Every polygraph is conducted by an accredited examiner from True Lie Detectors & Vetting (TLDV), our parent company. TLDV maintains examiners across South Africa — Durban, Bloemfontein, Vereeniging, Pretoria, Bela Bela and Barberton — with our satellite office in Hillcrest.
How long does a polygraph take?+
The full examination — pre-test interview, chart collection and post-test — usually runs 1.5 to 3 hours. Results and the examiner's report are delivered within 48 hours.
